THIS WEEK, BBC compiled a list of critics’ favourite albums of 2017. The results were compiled from 30 ‘album of the year’ polls published by the most influential music blogs and magazines, as well as more mainstream outlets.
1st Place – Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’
2nd Place – SZA’s ‘CTRL’
3rd Place – Lorde’s ‘Melodrama’
4. St Vincent – Masseduction
5. LCD Soundsystem – American Dream
6. The War On Drugs – A Deeper Understanding
7. Jay-Z – 4:44
8. Perfume Genius – No Shape
9. Sampha – Process
10. Kelela – Take Me Apart
11. Kesha – Rainbow
12. Vince Staples – Big Fish Theory
13. Father John Misty – Pure Comedy
14. Tyler, The Creator – Flower Boy
15. The National – Sleep Well Beast
16. Taylor Swift – Reputation
Tied at 17th place were:
Khalid – American Teen
And King Krule – The Ooz
19. J Hus – Common Sense
20. Wolf Alice – Visions of a Life
Despite the fact that Ed Sheeran’s album ‘÷’ was the best-selling album of the year, it only made it to one of the album of the year lists that BBC surveyed – in 7th place on People magazine’s ranking.
